Kaela let go of Elira’s hand and took a deep breath. The chaos within her hadn't fully subsided, but at least she was beginning to find her bearings. The silence was broken by the sound of approaching footsteps. Turning, she saw Ryon. Ryon had a lean but athletic build, with sharp brown eyes and short chestnut hair. He was always calm, but the worry in his eyes spoke volumes. When he saw Kaela, he let out a heavy breath, as if releasing a burden he had been carrying for a long time. "Are you alright?" Ryon asked, his voice soft yet filled with a trembling resolve. Kaela averted her gaze. "Yes, there's nothing to worry about." Ryon’s brow furrowed. It was always like this; Kaela would say everything was fine, but her eyes told a different story. The wound on her shoulder was bandaged, but to Ryon, the deepest wounds were the ones that couldn't be seen. "Shall we walk for a bit?" Ryon suggested. Kaela hesitated for a moment, then gave a slight nod. The two of them moved silently through the forest. Moonlight filtered through the branches, making the shadows dance. They didn't speak for a while. The silence eased the weight settled deep inside Kaela. Finally, Ryon couldn't help but speak. "Kaela... sometimes you act as if you have to fight this war all on your own." Kaela stopped, her fists clenching. "Because it is my war. No one can understand the darkness inside me." Ryon stepped closer, his eyes locking onto hers. "You’re wrong. I understand you. I may not have experienced the same things, but I feel your pain. And I want you to know that you aren't alone in this fight." Kaela’s heart skipped a beat. Ryon’s voice had silenced the storm in her mind. But before that storm could surge again, Kaela took a deep breath. "Ryon... I—" Just then, a scream rang out. Both were instantly on high alert. The hesitation in Kaela’s eyes vanished in an instant, replaced by a sharp focus. "I recognize that sound," Kaela said. "The camp is under attack!" Ryon nodded, drawing his sword. "Come on, let’s fight together this time." The two of them sprinted toward the camp. The darkness within Kaela stirred once more in the encroaching shadow of battle. But this time, Ryon was by her side. And perhaps, this time, she had a chance to win.
